What's the Fuel Policy?
If a quote is "collect full / return empty" you will be charged for a full tank of fuel when you collect the vehicle, and you have to return the vehicle with an empty tank.These deals are often supplemented with no excess CDW cover, so if you are planning on doing a lot of driving, then these type of deals may work out cheaper.
For rentals of 4 days or less, the car is often supplied with half a tank of fuel and has to be returned empty.

Faro Airport Information
Faro Airport is the gateway to the Algarve region of southern Portugal. The airport is located around 6 km from the centre of Faro, and around a 45 minute drive from the resorts of Albufeira and Tavira.
Faro Airport only has a single terminal building for all arrivals and departures. The airport has recently undergone major refurbishment following the partial collapse of the roof during a storm in October 2011.
There is no train station at Faro Airport, but there are regular buses to the coach station which has connections to major the Algarve resorts, Lisbon and Spain. Faro coach station is around a 5 minute walk from Faro train station.
Rental Car Collection and Return
Most of the rental car collections are in the Car Park 4 area of the airport car park, which is a couple of minutes walk from the arrivals terminal across the car park. Rental vehicles are returned to the same car park.

Faro Airport Arrivals/Departures
Arrivals
In summer there can be long queues at Faro when you arrive, and it can take 10-15 minutes to get to through customs control. To avoid the queues there are additional automatic barrier exits if you have a micro-chipped passport. Once you have passed through passport control, you should collect your baggage and head for the arrivals exit.
Departures
The departure area at Faro Airport is located to the right of the terminal building as you face the building. There are baggage weighing machines in the arrivals area which are worth using to check your baggage weight and avoid costly excess baggage charges.
There are several cashpoint machines located in both the arrivals and departures area of the airport.
Airlines Operating at Faro Airport
With the advent of low cost flights and the popularity of the Algarve as a tourist destination, many of the low cost operators such as Ryanair and Easyjet now fly year round to Faro.
Ryanair use Faro as one of their major hubs, and subsequently have a large check-in area at Faro Airport.
Flight times from the UK to Faro Airport are typically around 2½ to 3 hours depending on jet stream and wind direction.
